Important Security Update for Nanome – Unity Vulnerability Patch

October 9, 2025

Overview

Unity recently disclosed a vulnerability in its engine that affects VR applications built after Unity v2017.1.
While Unity reports no evidence of exploitation and no impact to users, we want to ensure all Nanome users are aware of the issue.

We recommend updating:

  • Horizon OS to v79
  • Windows Defender
  • And the latest versions of Nanome that include a patch for the vulnerability.

🔧 What’s Been Done

For Meta Quest Users

Meta has already addressed this vulnerability for Meta Horizon OS users through automatic over-the-air updates in v79.

For PC VR Users

Windows released an update to Windows Defender as of October 3 to address this vulnerability.

Additional Layer of Security

With the platform-level updates above in place, the vulnerability is effectively mitigated.
As an additional layer of security, we have also released patched versions of Nanome with updated builds now available:

  • Nanome v1.24.6 — now patched and available on the Meta Store and nanome.ai/setup
  • Nanome v2.3.1 — accessible through closed beta channels on the Meta Store (currently the only official distribution method).
If you received a v2 APK through other means, please contact support@nanome.ai or your Nanome representative.

✅ Recap: Recommended Actions

  1. Update Horizon OS (Meta Quest users): Ensure your Meta Quest is running Horizon OS v79 or later
  2. Update Windows Defender (PC VR users): Ensure Windows devices are current with the October 3 security update
  3. Update Nanome: Download the latest patched version (v1.24.6 or v2.3.1) from the Meta Store, nanome.ai/setup, or through your Nanome representative
  4. Review Unity’s guidance:

🏢 For Enterprise Deployments

If your devices operate within a closed network environment and don’t have external network exposure, your risk is already significantly mitigated.
However, we still recommend updating to the latest patched version as a best practice.

We have prioritized this update to ensure your team can continue using Nanome with confidence.
