Collaborative work has become increasingly important in a variety of fields, from scientific research to design and engineering. However, working together remotely or in hybrid settings can be challenging, especially when it comes to XR environments. With the latest Nanome v1.24.4 patch (coming soon), the platform has become even more user-friendly and streamlined for collaborative work. The new patch focuses on reducing the friction involved in setting up group sessions and loading content, making it easier and quicker than ever before to get started with collaborative work in Nanome. This improved functionality is set to revolutionize the way teams work together in XR, opening up new possibilities for research, design, and innovation. In this blog post, we'll explore the key improvements in the latest Nanome patch and how they will benefit users.
Features that make room setup dramatically faster and easier
- Quick Drop for Enterprise
Many of you may have tried the new home.nanome.ai feature, Quick Drop. To recap- Quick Drop allows users to drag and drop files onto your web browser outside of Nanome to instantly load workspaces or structures in Nanome when you put your headset on. This feature is now available to all enterprise users with on-prem or private cloud hosted instances of Nanome. To learn more, be sure to read our blog post that covers all the details about new features for home.nanome.ai here. This requires a new service to be installed for enterprise customers, please contact our support team to schedule a deployment time.
- Pymol Plugin: Send to Nanome
Another major update we announced in our blog post last week was a Pymol Plugin for Nanome. We cannot emphasize how much of a game changer this is for a seamless workflow between pymol and Nanome. With Quick Drop now available to enterprise users, this is also something enterprise users can take advantage of. Features that make running a group session much smoother
-
Room Auto-Join
Through a license configuration users can now be sent to a specific room whenever they start Nanome. This is great for project teams or dedicated XR conference rooms to effortlessly get into meeting spaces tailored to their needs without needing to navigate the Lobby. With the auto-rejoin feature eliminates the need for attendees to spend time navigating menus and loading content. This not only saves time but also reduces the likelihood of users becoming disengaged or choosing the wrong room on accident. Additionally, the auto-rejoin feature ensures that sessions aren't disrupted by users joining or leaving, which can be a major source of frustration and distraction. With Nanome's auto-rejoin feature, sessions can flow smoothly, allowing participants to focus on the task at hand and collaborate more effectively. The result is a more efficient, productive, and enjoyable collaborative work experience that can benefit teams across a wide range of fields. This requires our support team to make the custom configure ation so please contact our support team to schedule setting up this feature. -
Room Auto-Rejoin
Before this update, if you took off an all-in-one headset during a group project, you might have lost all your work and had to start over. But now, with this cool feature, the headset can automatically put you back in the same room with all the content you had before. So you can take a break, grab a coffee, and come back to pick up where you left off without any hassle. This is a huge win for all-in-one devices like Vive Focus 3. This is a game changer for Vive Focus 3 and other all-in-one devices that go into an idle mode.
Fixes that make the shared space more comfortable
- Users can now have a default setting when joining a room to have the locomotion/edit position state unlocked, enabling them to easily move and get settling in amongst their colleagues in the space. Or, they may choose to keep it locked by default, to avoid accidental teleportation. This is a license configuration and needs to be set by the support team for your organization
- Fixed an auto-height calibration problem where some users were located in or below the floor level.
The Nanome Data Table Plugin
With the latest update, the Data Table Plugin now contains a 2D chemical drawing tool embedded into the table, opening up many new options and simplifications to building new molecules!
- Create new molecules by simply editing a molecule in the table, for fast analog ideation
- Use rapid 2D copy/paste/edit tools to sketch multiple molecules in the sketcher and see them all as new rows in the table
- View new molecules instantly in XR with 3D conformations
- New molecules can be aligned in 3D space with any molecule in the table for easy spatial organization into groups.
- Optimize the creative flow by using 2D drawing aids like clean up structure, fixed lengths and angles, and templates or by using 3D Nanome builder tools like libraries, the mover tool and importing files
- Quickly create 3 dimensional stereoisomers with a quick hash/wedge in 2D
- Make and break bonds in the 2D sketcher to quickly generate new, single entry molecules.
- Now allows users to add multiple entries to the Data Table, so additional molecules can be readily added to the table
v1.24.4, makes it even easier to collaborate remotely in XR environments. With these improvements, working together on projects is smoother and more comfortable than ever before. Get ready to revolutionize the way you make breakthroughs with Nanome!
